The Canopy (Part Two)

from Waste Not, Want Not - EP by Phill Vidler

lyrics

Life hands you lessons
And hopefully you get chance to grow
I was always taught to be self sufficient
But I’m too set in my ways to let go

Guess what? This is not easy
So what? She is already having fun
I’ll be gone before the sun
I will be there if she falls
But what have I got to repay her for?
I’m not number one anymore

I’ve waited so long
For a new song to come my way
This block has helped me through
I’m almost glad it ended cause something new is in my mind these days

Guess what? I’m making changes
And so what? I’m not to blame for what’s done
Now it’s my turn to have fun
So I won’t write any more poetry
About what there might or might not have been
Between her and me

Where do I turn round
And scream at the top of my lungs
That the most painful sound
Is ‘I love you’ when you’re too young
To understand what you’re saying
This music is playing too loud
Let me out, let me out
